Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drum students participating in the Fairfield School Band have the option to play in the Fairfield Jazz Ensemble which rehearses twice a week. The Fairfield Jazz Ensemble "52 Soule Drive" performs at concerts during the school year and at the Burlington’s Discover Jazz Festival in June! The Fairfield Jazz Ensemble was a 2016 recipient of the Paul Brana Discover Jazz Festival scholarship workshop, appeared on My Champlain Valley Channel 22/44 "Cool Schools" in April 2016, has participated in the Flynn Theater’s Jazz Workshops and Concerts, led by such artists as (the late) world-renowned Lester Bowie of the Art Ensemble of Chicago; “Bear” Irwin, lead trombonist & co-founder of the Vermont Jazz Ensemble; Blues & Gospel singer Fontella Bass; and Glendon Ingalls also of the Vermont Jazz Ensemble. "52 Soule Drive" also participated in and performed at the Vermont Association of Jazz Educators Johnson State College Middle School Jazz Festival.
